Where to live this summer?

Me and a few of my buddies all want to live together this summer. All of our internships are virtual, but we want to stay on the East Coast, so we don't have to deal with the time change. We are considering NYC because we think it will start to reopen, but we are open to other ideas too. Where are some good places either in the city or elsewhere that have good nightlife and would generally be a good time when we go out? (Our budget is 3k a month each, but we could probably pay a little more for a great spot).

$3k a month each? How many of you are there?

If I were to bet on the answers you’ll get: a large group saying Miami or bust, reasonable sized group saying nyc is the place to be, and then some scattered opinions from those that like the outdoors (and don’t want to be stuck in a city) and those offering more affordable suggestions (I.e. Philly). Oh and of course Bermuda, but there are probably rules against working internationally.

It really depends on what you are looking for. I fall into the nyc camp, although it largely depends on reopenings (which I think will happen). But this year it’s hard to tell how things will shake out (will other young people be in nyc with so many internships remote? What about people in general? Etc). But I love the food in nyc and there is just so much to do when the city is open. I’d suggest getting a place in some of the “popular” areas (east or west village, maybe tribeca). Bars are starting to get pretty busy, restaurants are mostly open, and I think you’ll have a pretty good time

A cheaper place and lower risk (because it’s mostly open) is Miami. Also a party city, not as much to do (and I think the food is a notch or two below) but can’t go wrong with a young group.

I wouldn’t suggest Boston or Philly, if you are going to be in the NE stick to nyc

9K-12K/mo will get you a baller ass place in south Florida. You could have parties all the time.
