Which target school should I attend to be a data scientist?

I have the option of going to community college in California and then transferring to any target school provided I maintain my GPA. I am looking to be a data scientist on Wall Street and/or at a hedge fund, so I know I have to major in something like applied math. Which target school well help me accomplish this?

Analytics, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering

You might need a PhD and then to set your sights on somewhere like Renaissance Technologies.

Not sure why I got MS for this - but it sounds like the dude needs a PhD.

Its pretty hard to make good stats in 2 years after community college to get a good internship and get on the street.

I don't think that program applies to UCLA, UCB, or Stanford, which are your prime target schools in the area.

So - answer - yeah go to UCB or Stanford, but it doesn't sound like you're going to get in...
