Who is invited to the Closing Dinner?
I'm at a small boutique I-Bank and we just closed a decent sized LMM deal, biggest in our short history. We were assuming that we do dinner with the sellers / mgmt team, but the P/E Associate is asking about our plans for a closing dinner.
Do we invite that P/E firm to the one we already planned? Do we do a second one? Do we pay for a second one?
Ask the client for a guest list. If PE firm is on the list, then they get the invite.
See who had their email included in the congratulations email at the end of the deal. Those people.
The IB, the seller, and the buyer all go to the closing dinner.
no counsel?
Not in my experience. When I was an analyst, we would never invite other third party advisers.
Just make sure you rig up the lucite so you can wear it around your neck to the bar that night
