Who would you take to start your franchise, Brady or Belichick?

Been waiting for the Super Bowl to start and I found an interesting article on NFL.com:

Now preparing for their seventh Super Bowl appearance in the last 16 seasons, Belichick and Brady already have led New England to four Lombardi Trophies and 14 division titles. Since the 2001 season, when Brady took over as the starting quarterback, the Pats boast a .766 regular-season winning percentage (196-60) and a .727 postseason mark (24-9). It's this kind of staggering success that leads many to consider Belichick and Brady among the best ever at their respective posts (coach and QB).

All that success between them but who would you take if starting an NFL franchise, a prime Brady or Belichick?

Sure, you can argue Brady is one of the best QBs of all-time. But I'd say the reason he's in that conversation is because of Belichick's system. Belichick shown that he can win when his team faces multiple injuries and less than ideal circumstances. He won two rings with Parcells as a defensive coordinator as well, so he knows what works on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Nothing to takeaway from Brady though, he's a great QB. But being a great QB doesn't guarantee you win a Super Bowl (e.g., Jim Kelly and Cam Newton). Belichick showed that even with Tom out during a suspension, he could keep winning through the depth they created from drafts and free-agency.

Imo, the only QB without a Superbowl ring who comes remotely close to be in the comparison conversation with Brady is Dan Marino. Cam Newton is a journeyman QB compared to Brady/Marino.

To answer your question, it's really tough to say since we'll never know how each would have performed over an NFL career independent of the other. I would lean toward Brady, but Belichick has been pretty successful even without him (11-5 in Matt Cassell season, 3-1 to start 2016 season).
