Who's going to a Formula 1 race this year?

Alright guys, Netflix's Drive to Success took the world by storm and we're all hooked on watching cars go really fast and hopefully that unlikeable asshole Max Verstappen loses (but that Hamilton doesn't win either). Is anyone planning to go to any races this year? I'm trying to organize a trip with some friends to the Mexican Grand Prix.

Was going to go to Imola but its a bit complicated as I am studying abroad. Hoping to make it to Montreal later in June once I start my SA position. Going to try to convince my father to attend with me.

Huge Ferrari fan and have attended Austin and Montreal before.

Fuck yeah. How was the atmosphere in Austin? I was there for a concert once, it's an interesting venue but pretty far from the city.

Great city with an awesome atmosphere. I was a teenager then so couldn't take advantage of everything but I loved that race. Really cool track. Montreal has a better viewing system in terms of grand stands but man I just miss going to F1 races.

Wanted to go to the Miami GP, but tickets sold out fast. May look into Austin, but I was looking forward to Miami.

On a big note, its very possible an announcement for a Vegas GP is coming soon. Super pumped about this. That would mean 3 US races a season, which would great.

I agree with you on Max. Definitely don't want him to win. His whole driving strategy is to run others off the track, which proves he can't win by playing clean. Also guy seems like a major POS off the track as well. Lewis is a cleaner driver but yea tired of seeing him win too. I think it would be nice if Ferrari (Sainz) would win it, but definitely a long shot. Let's see how the new car regs play out this year.

Vegas race would be huge, seems like the perfect place for it.

You hit the nail on the head with Max, he's way too aggressive in a way that seems to be a near-constant violation of the rules, and you're right in that he just seems very rude. We're all tired to Lewis winning, but he is nice and even still humble about it, so I don't feel as bad about it. Ferrari winning would be really fantastic. Perez winning at home would be a great sight to see, but it'll probably go to someone else.

First, going to Austin again like I have almost every year since it came here (and definitely miss the V8 Supercars race they had, but that sport is dying I think).

Second, I can get behind not wanting to see either Max or Lewis win. You mention thinking Max is a major dillweed off the track? Hamilton has him beat on that one  (I can't stand Hamilton outside of the driver's seat. Guy's the epitome of narcissistic toolbag), so I definitely don't want to see him win. Sainz would be a good guy to root for and I can get behind that one too.

Yea I hear you. I mean off-track personality speaking, Hamilton is the lesser of the two evils. The guy definitely has a more public, fashionable personality, which I can see turns people off. However, generally speaking he is still humble and keeps his cool. Outside of his political/fashion views, he doesnt seem as bad. I mean even after that messed up Abu Dhabi ending, he still shook Max's hand. In contrast, Max walked off the podium like a little bitch in Saudi in a fit of rage. Max has given Hamilton the finger and insulted Hamilton's own family by saying "His dad wasn't a driver so he doesn't know how to drive". In contrast, I have not seen Lewis retaliate. Having followed Lewis and other drivers, he's not that bad. I mean even after Abu GP, he didn't have any ill will to Latifi or even Masi. In fact, Lewis called Latifi and told him he supported him. If Latifi screwed over Max, I could see Max cursing him out publicly.

Either way, I think its time for a change up. Sainz is the closest (although way off) in taking the WDC.

I would suggest you look at the historical drivers of Formula 1, and even Hamilton’s own driving history.  Clearly your hot take is that of a likely 1st year watcher and not a long time viewer.

Hamilton bitching about Perez “dangerous driving” is literally what he did at Abu Dhabi in 2016 trying to get Rosberg overtaken.

I can't believe how expensive some of them were when I looked earlier this afternoon. Anything not general admission was >$750. And these were not paddock club or resellers asking for unreasonable prices or anything like that. I haven't been to a race, but I'm not sure if it's worth it given you can only see a portion of what's going on. I think I'd rather go to a huge playoff game in another sport for that amount.

Sadly, I cannot due to multiple reasons but I grew up with the sport, so would love to.

SafariJoe, wins again!

So psyched for McLaren, rooting hard for them. The Google partnership announced recently is icing on the cake. Would love to attend a race this year.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.
