Why do retired people have a linkedin

I noticed a couple retirees I know still have their Linkedin profiles up just with the title "Retired". I find it so peculiar because most of these people have no plans of going back to work, were not super active on Linkedin and I don't think most people expect to be pulled out of retirement due to some crazy occurrence in their former workplace, they'll just hire someone new.
Even my old school principal has had his Linkedin up for 7+ years with the phrase "Retired" plastered everywhere.
I guess my question is, why not just delete your Linkedin? The only answer is to snoop on your former co workers and I can't think of any other reason.

Because a lot of times it's a way for former colleagues to get in touch with them?  For them to see how their kids or grandkids are doing?

Maybe they're retired from their primary career but still do consulting or part time work on the side?  Maybe they got laid off and are embarrassed to admit it, and claim they're "retired"?

There are a ton of reasons.
