Why do y’all accept my LinkedIn request but don’t respond to the networking note?

So I have been networking heavily for the past month on LinkedIn and I have left a note on the connection giving a quick background and stating that they either went to my university or were part of some organization and that I want to ask them some questions about their career. Some of them end up accepting my request but never respond to my note. I have even sent another message after that just reiterating my desire to ask some questions and still no response. So my question is, why do y’all accept the request but don’t have the desire to have a call? Could it be because they get busy suddenly or just blindly accept? Just curious if I need to improve my strategy.

Don't use linkedin, get their emails and do it that way. I've had much better response rate sending emails than linkedin messages. The only thing linkedin is useful for is finding alums to reach out to.

I agree that email is better. I guess I have been focusing mainly on LinkedIn because email can be luck focused. But why I accept the request but not respond to the note for a call?

I Accept just about any LinkedIn request that comes in but unless it's someone whose name (or school, Company, Hometown, etc.) I quickly recognize I'm unlikely to read the note.  Nothing personal just the nature of getting a lot of spam on there for various products, services, and C-list recruiters.  I echo the above that email is much better way to reach out if you can.  I do list my personal email in my LinkedIn for this reason.
