Yeah. I 100% agree. I can never vote for an overall party because of the alleged actions of one person. Thank god there are zero racists with the Democrats or else I would have no one to vote for.

I agree, the republicans never should have THROWN OUT those TWO PEOPLE who were making racially insensitive remarks. Haters.

“...all truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.” - Schopenhauer

The GOP attracts a massively disproportionate share of the racially insensitive (i.e: RACIST) vote. There are reasons minorities are overwhelming democrat and southern whites have been republicans since Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act.

This doesn't mean everyone in the party is racist, but if you think organizations as entities are separate from any single individual constituent (p.s. Mitt Romney does since apparently corporations are ppl), then I think you could argue that the GOP is racist.

In any case, I don't despise the GOP because it embraces a large group of people who lean racist. I despise the repubs because they're stupid and immature. What kind of behavior do you expect when your political viewpoints are based on a casual disregard for the truth (about your record, your opponents record, science, history, logic, and just about everything else)....

Wow, thanks man. I am now voting for Obama. This insightful, factually supported and unbiased post swung me. Appreciate it!

You are quite obvoiusly very young and in college. AKA, no real world experience, or very limited.

Glad to see both of the guys above me playing the "I'm older and more mature so now I support the conservative viewpoint" bullshit. Can't stop watching CNBC because I never started.

Also, since your profiles suggest you are both young bankers, so I certainly pay more taxes than either of you (and possibly both of you combined).

To the other guy, sorry I don't have time to write a paper for you right now. Maybe you should spend some time educating yourself so I don't have to do it for you.

"They are few and they are stupid" - my favorite repub Eisenhower talking about the ppl who now run that mindless cynical wreck you call a party.

Night boys.

One of the most profoundly ignorant posts I've read in a long time on WSO. And that's saying a lot. I commend you sir for achieving such a monumental task.

There is no evidence that the GOP is more racist than the democratic party. Each party is filled with loonies, extremists, and gasp, racists. If you think dems are free of such idiots, then you're sadly mistaken. The reason the GOP has done poorly with blacks is due to goldwater's opposition to the civil rights act of 1964, LBJ's stellar record on civil rights, as well as the unfortunate southern strategy deployed by Nixon in 1968 and 1972. Those historical grievances are not to be ignored, and by no means am I downplaying them. But to categorize the entire Republican Party of 2012-with its millions of members-is extremely ignorant.

Will be hard for you to ace those GMATs if this is your level of reading comprehension. I explicitly state that I don't think everyone in the party is racist, but that YOU COULD ARGUE that the party itself is racist. That is to say, I wouldn't consider this argument off-base at all. Underlying this argument is the fact that THE ORGANIZATION IS SEPARATE FROM THE INDIVIDUALS.

The GOP has a half century of appealing to the worst tendencies of its electorate, racism included. Everything you just mentioned validates my point. Southern whites switched sides because democrats started pushing civil rights for black people.

Both of our major parties are "big tents" that embrace a huge variety of people that often have very little in common (e.g. NY hedge funders and rural farmers for the repubs). A good portion of people on both sides are what I might consider absolutely cray cray. Right now one party is letting the loonies run the house, with the reasonable guys (McCain and Romney before they decided to run for president) having their strings pulled by the most ethnocentric, authoritarian, ignorant portions of the base.

The difference between the Republicans and the Democrats right now is that the Democrats are being run by their best and brightest, and the Repubs are being run by loons.

TNAAgree with Brady. I'm sorry, but anyone that makes broad, sweeping statements like the OP simply cannot be credible.

Brady was actually responding to me, not the OP. See my explanation above.

I agree 100% with the OP. The whole GOP is racist because of these two people. I cant believe they were thrown out. I figured they would be carried on people's shoulders. Thats why I am voting Dem. I mean look at the loyalty. Senator Robert Byrd (D) was the longest serving member in the history of congress and he was only a member of the KKK. They wouldnt throw him out of a convention they were to busy electing him over...and over...and over. Vote Dem because only racist vote GOP
