Why is everyone anonymous?

Took some time off WSO and came back to 75%+ of the comments posted anonymously. Is it that hard to maintain confidentiality with your existing usernames? I understand for some comments, could be worthwhile to post as a total anon, but that's few and far between.

They’re pussies. People on this website say lame shit they’d be embarrassed to say in public because they’d be hit in the mouth for it. A username isn’t enough anonymity for the amount of stupidity posted here by some of these guys. They have to go double anonymous.

I do believe it's some type of mental illness. If WSO added a new 3rd layer to be even more anonymous than simply Username (1st layer), and Industry - Seniority (2nd layer), many would still opt for this new 3rd layer

on a more serious tone, I do believe that it avoids studying someone's post history and infer who he might be based on his comments on his bank culture/lifestyle/background, which could become problematic if you're complaining about seniors or a bank (which is part of what WSO is also about, calling out the toxic people/cultures/ranting)

but unless you're complaining, it's just trolls/people that have inconsistent (retarded) views and feel they will get judged/called on their bullshit based on what they said in other threads
