Winter Olympics or World Cup 2014: Which Will Be Less Dysfunctional?

Russia has the problem of Islamic terrorism, and probably a swarm of gay propaganda from the USA delegation.

Brazil has unfinished infrastructure, possible price gouging, underdeveloped human capital (a lot of their prostitutes have had to learn English in preparation for their new customers) and civil unrest in major metro areas.

China did a great job with the 2008 Olympics. Will either of these two BRIC nations avoid screwing up? Will any of you be in Brazil this summer?

Currently living in Brazil and excited to see how this one will play out. My guess is the major gangs will make a deal with the local government to halt major crime in exchange for their right to continue selling their drugs freely, which has been done in the past for major world events.

The large cities will be fine, but I think there will be some real logistic nightmares in the smaller cities. The lack of English across the board will affect every unsuspecting tourist the minute they get in an airport cab.
