Looking at my mouse, it seems like I have a Logitech M705. This is the first time I have ever thought about that though and I'm not sure how a mouse would "add some efficiency"

"TheFitAnalyst" Work Mouse? .. it's all about the shortkeys brotha

Excel is best with the shortkeys, but you're deluded if you think you can put together a decent powerpoint without a mouse. Haven't you ever presented to senior management before? Bloomberg and FactSet also need a mouse for some items.

I use a Perixx lefty ergo mouse "513L" It is flashier than I like, but your options are slim for lefty ergo mice. It is one of those mice with a more natural 45* grip from flat. I also like the forward/back buttons on it, and the fact that while it's reverse wired (left click and right click are reversed, so I can use the same fingers for each as rightys can) the change is hardwired, so my laptop trackpad behaves like normal, and my backup mouse works normally if IT needs to fix my computer.

Half my department's PMs and traders have similar mice, although I guess if you're purely an Excel jocky you can do without.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

9/10 times there is already a template in place for your PowerPoint presentation. Also PowerPoint isn’t necessarily about speed it’s about making sure the formatting and scheme passes the eye test.

If you want something simple, I recommend a BenQ ZOWIE mouse. I use the EC1-B at home and it's great. It's about $70, designed for competitive gaming, and is rock solid. It's also bigger than your typical "office" mouse so you can rest your hand on the mouse instead of having to have more of a claw grip with your knuckles raised.

If you prefer something with more buttons you can bind to keys, check out the Logitech G600. It has 12 buttons on the side you can program to any key you'd like.
