What's the etiquette for inviting co-workers to your wedding? Any rules of thumb you used?
For context: I'm in a satellite office of a major firm, 5 people on my direct team about 12-15 on my broader team. Should I invite all of them? Can I just invite the four people (and spouses) I occasionally do things outside of work with?
I joined during COVID and the team was VERY socially and personally connected but now not so much. Asked a girl who's been on the team for about five years and she said no one has gotten married while she worked there so she's not sure the etiquette either.
I mean, its your wedding do what you want.
I'd hate to power rank people, but if you invite people from the office I'd make sure there's no one else you want to invite, i.e., maybe a friend or distant relative.
What you could do is wait, see how many people you receive or can't attend, then decide to invite the office.
I'm inviting one co-worker and his wife. But me and said co-worker actively hang out outside of work.
Otherwise, i'm more of a separation of Church and State type of guy (Friends / Work).
In my opinion, there is no specific etiquette rule in this case. It all depends on your budget.
I did not invite any coworkers to my wedding.
Rationale was very simple: I can't invite every one of my coworkers (space is limited) and, inevitably, some of those who I did not invite may get offended (once they find out some were invited and some weren’t).
So we set a blanket rule and said "zero coworkers, family and close friends only". Much simpler.
