Worm from cod still moving after cod is cooked on stovetop for 10 minutes!

So I cooked a cod fillet in a non-stick pan last night on medium to high heat for 10 minutes. When I was halfway done eating the cod, I found a small worm from the cod that was still slightly moving. Startled, I threw the rest of my fish away, but I am now concerned that I may have ingested live worms from the cod fillet. It has been 17 hours since the meal, and I am feeling completely fine. For those of you who are knowledgeable on this subject: can worms from cod still move if they are dead? And are the anti-parasite drugs that a doctor may prescribe safe to use? Should I be concerned?

you’re good. no need to be alarmed. I fish a lot in Florida and a lot of certain types of big fish you catch have worms. I just cut them out of the fillets and cook up the fish but I’m sure I’ve missed one or two worms in the meat over my life so one time is fine. just don’t make a habit of it. eat a lot of citrus tho just to be safe.

Did you temp your fish? I'd assume 10 mins is sufficient though and doubt it's still alive. Did you not defrost first?
