Would you rather lose both legs below the knee or one above the knee?

You get into a terrible car crash but right before it happens you get to decide – lose both legs below the knee (mid shin) or one leg above the knee (mid thigh and you pick which leg)?

My stance is that it’s easily both legs. With prosthetics you can be super mobile with both and have symmetry in walking. Not to mention make yourself as tall as you want, have incredible leg room on flights, and become the next Oscar Pistorious (minus the spousal homicide).

Let’s hear it

Yknow, I came into this thread thinking "well obviously 1 leg above the knee" but your blade runner example has given me pause...

Plus this was hot

Hang on, now we have a debate. I'm drifting back towards the 1 leg side again.

Short story, yes

Long story, I discovered that MoMA-worthy thread last night and was inspired to get the conversation going on this one, however, this scenario is entirely original. I've been debating this with friends and on first dates (probably why there wasn't a second date) for years.

Apologies if there is some kind of citing / referencing system that I'm not familiar with, just got active on the forum yesterday

My classmate from college got hit by an IED in the Middle East and lost one leg above the knee and one below the knee.

He seems to be doing well. He stayed in the Army for a little while longer and has a wife and child now.
