WSO SCUBA diving meetup- NYC Area?

Hi everyone,

I've wanted to get some diving in at Dutch Springs before leaving the NYC area for good and I figured we might be able to find some dive buddies here.

If you are certified (at least for Open Water Diving), would anyone be interested in meeting up for some diving at Dutch Springs in a weekend or two (5/17 or 5/24)?

The diving won't be that challenging. This is my first dive of the year and I am going to be testing out some new gear, so I will probably not be going out to 90 feet. Dutch is *probably* one of the safest places to go diving, especially if you haven't been in a while. Visibility is usually very good, there's no surge when doing a safety stop, and there are EMTs on site in case anything happens. I've done ~70 dives and am certified through PADI Rescue Diver. I'm happy to pair up with newer divers, especially on this dive. (There may be more experienced divers than me who also join us.) If you haven't gone diving in a while, or if you've only done a few dives, you should not hesitate about joining us. (It might be wise to go back through the PADI/NAUI/SDI book, though.)

I have a car in NJ and can pick people up from Manhattan, if necessary. Dutch Springs is about 90 minutes from Manhattan, give or take.

As a reminder, Dutch Springs only rents tanks and weights. You'll also need to line up gear before leaving, including:

-Snorkel, Fins, Mask
-BCD
-Regulator
-Exposure suit (drysuit recommended if you are certified, otherwise 7mm wetsuit).

If you are not certified, you may not be able to dive with us this time, but I can get you in touch with a great instructor with decades of experience who does private lessons for about the cost of a bigger class.

Please post here if you might be interested and what dates (5/17, 5/18, 5/24, 5/25) you are available.
