The girlfriend and I have been thinking about getting a dog. Growing up, I only had German Shepherds (amazing dogs) but she wants a CavaPoo or some pretty shit like that.
What would be the best dog breed if we're looking for a relatively docile dog? Side conversation: what is your favorite dog breed?

but i had a shitzhu or however you spell it and she was definitely on the spectrum
I like cats too but I think a dog is more affectionate and will help her deal with my long hours at work. Shih-tzus are cool but I think their face is too flat, she looked into cavatzus or poo-tzus or something and theyre cute as fuck
how long you been together? chances are the dog outlasts the relationship and you end up in a pet custody battle. i like german sheperds, huskies and husky mixes, malamutes are dope. we had a cocker spaniel named coco for a while when i was a kid. he was so fucking dumb but a good boy nonetheless.
Over two years and if we break up, I would let her keep the dog since she would actually have more time to take care of him
well alright. are you gonna get pet health insurance? what kind of food are you gonna feed it? you know most conventional dog food is made mostly of grains and is terrible for dogs which are mostly carnivores? i just want you to understand what an expensive endeavor this is. are you gonna pay someone to watch it when you go out of town?
i like huskies and german shepherds too but it seems cruel to keep them in little studios in new york city which is why i agreed to a smaller dog.

German shepherds all the way. Most loyal dogs ever.
dont know what size dog you want, but my family has 2 boston terriers and theyre the greatest ever. they dont bark much like other small dogs and theyre still super playful & loving, its hard to fuck them up unlike pitbulls & big dogs like that. also super easy to walk them & transport them wherever, shit like that. theyre great

German Shepherds are also my favorite breed. Very chill for big dogs too.

Dachshund / Mini Dachshund = GOAT dogs
German Shepherds are my favorite. However, do yourself and them a favor, don't get an awesome big dog like that unless you have enough time, energy, and space to take care of it. GSDs need to be outside running around; don't coop them up in a condo.
Shih tzu and Lhasa also are great bc they have hair and are relatively shedless. Treat/raise them like a big dog and they act like one. Good on road trips, alarm dogs that don't bark unless alerting you, don't eat much and self regulate diet so can leave a huge bowl of food without coming home to a comatose whale.
Do not get a large breed if you're in an apartment. It screams douche that cares about animals as accessories not family.
Whippet and grey hounds are great too bc short hair and require very little exercise. They are know as 45mph couch potato.
You can rescue a former race dog from a shelter easliy, doing a good deed in the process.
Dogs are like people. Actually they are better, but they all have different personalities. Try to spend some time if you can before committing.
Huskies are beautiful but really high maintenance and nomadic escape artists. They will figure a way out and when they do, will rarely have the inclination to return home. Great dogs, very intelligent, but you.better have an industrial vacuum on hand.
