The guy is not really doing the math. He is pretty famous in Germany for his talent of being able to memorize long sequences of numbers.

im not questioning you on this, but he's not memorizing these numbers? I assume the public is sending in requests and he's complying. Unless that is, hes managed to memorize all double digit figures to the power of any other double digit figure...

I'm not saying that I can do this off the top of my head, but as math tricks go, this isn't the most difficult. It's relatively easy to calculate large exponents by converting to binary and back.
Still, it's impressive that he has the memory capacity to do it on this kind of scale.
During the fourth sequence, it almost looks as if his head is about to explode. Anyway, impressive work.
As someone said above, this is likely staged.
But this technically is just arithmetic, not mathematics; be it arithmetic with very large numbers. He's probably a savant. I am not jealous.
