Your opinions. Are we heading to a recession?

It's widely debated throughout the financial press. What does everyone think?

Personally, I say no, provided that the Fed can keep up with the markets utilizing rate cuts and its new lending facility. Also, these capital infusions from abroad have seemed to improve investor sentiment in the financial services sector, despite heavy losses for many of the firms (e.g. Morgan, Merrill, Citi, etc.)

In the end though, it really depends on the consumers willingness to spend, so it's tough to make a prediction.
