How much does this matter to you, both before the whole COVID ordeal and now? Never really thought of it before but what would happen if someone were to get laid off or furloughed in this kind of environment with no clear end in sight + you were the sole or main breadwinner?

I don't think my opinion changed much from COVID. These situations are extreme and unpredictable so you can't use this as criteria and play the what-if game. I want a partner who is hard working and ambitious towards achieving goals. It doesn't matter if that person wants to be a finance monkey or or work in the public education system. As long as the person is passionate and striving to achieve goals, then that's more than I could ask for. Plus, in most cases when you really care about what you do and work hard then the money will come, relatively speaking.
