zoom or phone for coffee chats?
hey all, scheduled a coffee chat with a VP alum at a BB that I will be interning at next summer (IBD). they confirmed the time and date and requested I send over a calendar invite today. do I assume it's a zoom call or a phone call? we met once before via zoom so I am leaning toward that. I have never sent over a calendar invite before on top of all this so wanted to get some clarification.
I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I literally don't know and I am not sure if I should clarify with them. I don't want to seem like an idiot and send over the wrong thing but I didn't know who to ask for advice besides you guys on here. let me know what y'all would recommend! thank u so much.
I always go phone call, but that's just me. The thought of having to seeing the joy in some young kids eyes before the world has had the chance to crush them just annoys me.
Realistically, do whatever you want, Zoom is probably safe, but don't expect them to turn on their camera.
LOL okay. I'll just send them a zoom link and if it's an issue, they can just email me back asking for a number to call instead?

Overthinking it - just phone call, much easier to take while doing something simultaneously, or out on a run for food, driving etc. do not make me command 20 minutes of attention unless it’s a formal interview
This is 100% spot on and was my experience as well when networking. A lot of people would schedule calls while actively doing something else which made it much easier for them. A zoom call doesn’t allow that flexibility and won’t be desired like a phone call.
Definitely phone - they’re gonna be lightly working during the call most likely through it so call is optimal
If you've already met over Zoom fine to keep doing that
generally I prefer phone calls, camera on is annoying when you do a ton of these, but I won't decline a zoom or anything
