I'm in the hiring process for one of the top ten mutual fund companies based on assets under management. It's for a sales support role where I would be assisting an internal and external wholesaler team. I interviewed with the "retail" side which has the normal EW's who strictly push their products to FA's. I also interviewed with the retirement side (they both have an opening for the same sales support role).
My question is, what are some differences between the retail and retirement side when it comes to the external role (that's my end goal). I know the retirement sales consultants are pushing 401k plans so do they have a certain quota each year as well? I'm curious how the pay works. Seems like the externals on retail side would make more.
Has anyone been on either side and can tell me the pros/cons/differences of either?
