Asset/ Liability (ALM) Management
I have recently started working at a firm which specializes in Asset/Liability management (analyzing how different interest rate environments affect the valuation of the securities on the balance sheets of small financial institutions)
Has anyone else worked in such a field and can offer advice on potential exit opps that I may not be aware of?
I mean
exit opps sounds like you could do risk management for a larger bank
What is the Vertical Mobility in ALM? (Originally Posted: 03/16/2013)
How does ALM compare to other analyst roles in terms of upward mobility? Are there any corporate risk management roles that offer more mobility?
I'm not familiar with ALM, is it Anti-Money Laundering (AML)? If so, it's compliance work that doesn't sound all that great.
ALM=Asset Liability Management
BTW does anyone here practice Quantitative Risk Management (QRM), and how hard is it to learn for a non-statistician?
Are you an actuary? The ALM group in my team are all actuaries. They seem to have pretty good mobility as they have different backgrounds - product pricing, valuation, etc. I am at an insurance company and not strictly AM so that might changes things. Maybe the AM board would have better insights...
