Corp Finance for undergrads

Hi all,

I was wondering what are some F500 companies that hire undergrads from non-target? I am looking to work for a F500 that would be able to put in a good position for a MBA in 2-3 years. I live in NYC but am willing to relocate to San Fran or L.A. I know about G.E FMP program I applied a week ago but I think i might of missed the deadline.

 

Most of the finance programs at F500s have already gone through or are currently in the process of going through interviews for their Finance Development Programs for next summer.

Dude, I'm from a non-target and one of the largest tech companies hires at my school on campus (think MSFT, INTC type of company). The thing with F500s is that they're more regional with their hiring for obvious reasons, but they don't exclusively go to wharton or something for their recruiting like ibanks. Do a linkedin search for a company you like and you'll see tons of people from random schools at big name companies.

EDIT: Nefarious, are you sure? At my school, most places are just starting to post opportunities for summer grads.

I work for a Global 500 (fortune 100) and can tell you that we are about to enter our in person interviews for our FT financial development program which will start 6/2012 and last 2-3 years.

Interesting. At my school, the two biggest recruiters are interviewing for FT in early november and some other places have begun contacting the group I'm in at my school for job interviews.

I'd like to know more as well regarding this topic. What kind of work do people in this do for their first year?

I've worked for two F500 companies in corporate finance. Some of them have recruiting seasons (e.g. Intel) and many others do not - so you'll see opportunities pop up year-round. My best recommendation is to see what your school's career center offers and constantly watch the listings there, as well as periodically trolling companies' career websites for listings. The school career center should have a calendar of the companies coming to career fairs and giving presentations, so find out because I believe it's more of a case-by-case basis for each company. After all - some companies have planned "classes" of employees coming in and others just need to replace that analyst that just left or was promoted.

In my experience, I did a lot of department income statement publishing my first year. After that I started to branch into more specific portions such as pricing-valuation, financial systems, budgeting, and working capital management. Always wanted to do some work in secondary markets, but never had that opportunity. Some companies have rotational programs, but I wasn't part of that so I can't speak to it.

 

I'm from a 85-105 USNWR ranked school and we've had both Google and Facebook (I know it's not F500, but kinda a big deal) on campus in the last couple of weeks. If you're from a top 200 ranked school (by USNWR), you should have at least one or two F500s recruiting UGs on campus. You can also just go down the list of F500s, pick out companies that look interesting to you, and see if they take undergrads. Most take "nontarget" students.
