Future of 3D Glasses and AR

Hey All,

During Covid, I’ve been reading lots of articles and watching videos on what some consider to be the future of tech: 3D glasses with augmented reality (AR).

All of the Big Tech firms are developing their own glasses including Apple, Facebook, and Snapchat. Microsoft already has Hololens out there for enterprises, and Google released Google Glass ~5 years ago with little success. Magic Leap is one of the most public disasters of the challenges of AR glasses.

I personally find the idea that these will become sensible for the average consumer to purchase in the coming years hard to believe. Big Tech has run into so many problems with putting that much computing power into such a small device.

Basically, I was wondering if anyone in Tech or Venture Capital has any take on the future of 3D glasses (challenges, possibilities, timetable, etc) or information not found in mainstream news.

Cheers!
