H-1B Effect on Early Career
Hi All,
I'm a recent graduate, on the way from OPT to H-1B status the coming year.
My question is for people who have been through this process. It certainly looks pretty depressing on this end of the tunnel.
As far as I can see, the H-1B makes you an indentured servant for your sponsor. Your very existence in the USA, from day to day, depends on some HR schmuck.
So how does this play out for exit opps and/or upward mobility?
Given the fact I'm staring at pissing away my 20s waiting for the magic Green Card, it sucks to think I'll be stymied from the get-go. Has this this actually been the case for you H-1B veterans?
TIA
I thought if you get your H-1B, you can still get hired by a different company, finish out your 3 years and have your current employer transfer your H-1 for another three years. During that time, just pray your employer will file for your greencard
Or just marry an American lol
Thanks for the inputs guys - I was asking more in the direction of -
does working under an H-1B have the potential to stymie your career potential at the BBs relative to citizen/Green Card peers at the BBs? And if any monkeys had any experience of this?
