We are searching for a key finance professional to join our cost controlling team in Greensboro, NC. The Product Cost Controller is responsible for providing strong management of product cost in the product development phases of our vehicles. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing technical and economic expertise to support cost improvement, allowing Volvo Group to leverage a competitive edge in the trucking industry. In some cases this role may be extended to a full Finance Product Manager (FPM) role, providing analysis on project cost and profitability calculations to ensure project targets are met.
You will gain a valuable competence in the company by combining business understanding, product knowledge and project management. This position is part of Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) Controlling & Strategy department and reports to the Manager of Product Cost in North America.

Responsibilities:

•Forecast and control Product Cost in product projects and in maintenance phases. •Bring technical/economic expertise to support product cost improvements. •Challenge the status quo (existing designs, offering, suppliers): feed the projects and the organization with technical and commercial gaps (to target) and propose actions to close these gaps. Drive gap closing activities. •Guide and influence key decisions from a financial perspective. •Guarantee integrity and transparency in the decision process pertaining to product cost. •Be a valued member of the network consisting of Cost Engineering (CE) and Product Cost Controllers (PCC), to make sure we work closely, and cover all aspects of product cost, throughout the entire lifetime of our products. •Support and develop the product cost controlling methods in order to optimize working practices in a global organization. •Drive and foster a product cost culture within GTT. •Acting as a FPM - you will support the Chief Product Manager in all financial issues, scrutinizing the decisions and drive actions to reach the project targets. Key skills:

•Reliable technical and product cost understanding •Good knowledge about product cost and profitability calculations •Project management •Ease with Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Power Point) •Knowledge of Volvo systems like Product Cost Controlling Tool (PCCT), Global Purchasing System (GPS), Volvo PDM System (Kola) preferred.
Education and experience:

•University degree in Engineering and/or Economics, Masters strongly preferred •Preferably 3 year experiences in similar positions in Automotive or successful experiences in Engineering, Purchasing, Product Quality or Manufacturing Engineering for instance, willing to leverage the decisions in product projects through a technical/economic expertise.
