Who is the highest paid/ richest person you know and what was there path?

What kind of money do you think they make?

I'll start, my uncle on the East coast town of 50,000 people started as a carpenter at 18. He worked and was mentored for eight years. Then some friends wanted him to build their houses. One thing led to another and he started developing communities, apartments, and shopping centers. His net worth is in the $100 million dollar range. The true path to wealth is going after what you love and learning as much as you can at every step. Then doing what most people are afraid of "taking risk" and either starting your own business or going after higher paying jobs. A lot of people I know get a good job where they top out in the 100-300 range and then get stuck because there afraid to leave their "safe job". Education and contacts help but the wealthiest people have a never say die attitude. The one thing I'm learning and I hope everybody on hear learns is there is no career path that will get you from A-Z. All of life is filled with twist and turns.

Know a guy you started out as a plumber and then won the lottery. Thats the best route in my opinion.

Richest guy I know owned (maybe still does) a large construction company in a major metro area. Evidence surfaced back in 2000 that he had defrauded the tax payers of my state and built shoddy roads. He did a year or two in a white collar prison. There are plenty of allegations that he has mob ties.

Estimates of his wealth are in the $300 mil range. People say that since he did his time quietly and didn't rat anyone out, he became even more wealthy than before. His house is unbelievably impressive.

I am on the poor side... The richest person (my uncle) in my entire family is making about $100K at best as a physical therapist. He always talks me down that I am working in the business world. The day I make more money (which is coming soon) I will definitely take his thrown.
