Possible Internship Dilemma
I may have an internship offer for a large and very well known fortune 50 company, the only issue is that it is a tax internship. Truthfully, I do not want to go into this field but I may not have any better summer internship opps coming my way. The one possible upside is that the job description mentioned more duties than just tax work such as finance, audit, and risk management.
Is this something I could except and then after the fact just say tax wasn't for me or will I look too indecisive. Also, what kind of transferable skills from tax could I use to get a position in a role like audit or possibly M&A?
I would actually take it. It's always good to have something rather than nothing, and especially if its at a F50, you will be surrounded by some pretty talented people. Just getting the opportunity to network with them, and maybe get them to connect you into the field you want could be worth it, outside of the stuff you learn.
