Thoughts on job offers: Accenture vs. Unilever, which is better

I've recently secured two offers for Accenture and Unilever - both of which are based in Singapore. This is an entry-level position since I just graduated college this past May. My role in Accenture is going to be an analyst for the strategy consulting team while for Unilever, a management trainee type position for their Future Leaders Program. I know these are two completely different fields and I have previous experience in both fields. I'm fully aware that this is kind of an apples and oranges scenario but I just wanted to get your opinion on the situation. What do you think would be a better job to jump start my career? I eventually want to do entrepreneurial work in the future, after my MBA. Which of these two firms would put me in the best position?

Looking forward to your opinions! Thank you so much.

Definitely take the Accenture role. I am not sure why you would want to waste your time and money on an MBA, but I think that would anyways put you into a better MBA program. Also, if you wanted to go into a corporate role, the Accenture background can get you there. I don't think it is as great to start 'in house' right from the beginning.

  1. Which group of people did you enjoy better? I think this should be your biggest consideration.

  2. While the Accenture brand takes a lot of heat on this website, it is a well regarded brand in the world of consulting and most industries. Also Accenture places well in B-school programs in America at least.

  3. Which lifestyle do you prefer? I'm guessing most consultants based out of Singapore will need to travel for their project.
