Why are Most HR Professionals Women?

Just curious on your thoughts as to why the HR department at most places is way >50% female (I'm talking >90% sometimes!). This seems to hold no matter what industry (even tech and finance). If you look at the Chief HR Officer at many Fortune 500 companies, they are all female.

Is there some reason HR is an unattractive industry for guys? Do people in HR not make that much money or something?

On an intellectual level: sometimes different careers are stereotyped. HR is a lot of outreach, most people respond well to women. Its a very social job, women like that. It pays well.

On a real level: HR (to me) seems like the job that most girls who are in sororities; as in, the job is more about looks and personally than actually doing the job.  You probably get paid more than you should in terms of the work you do (maybe it'll help you find a husband), and you can say you work at XYZ firm, probably get to go to a ton of boozy events.

I'm confused how attractiveness plays into recruiting... Like if I don't want the job, I'm not going to take it even if Scarlett Johansson is interviewing me LOL (but it would make me a little happy maybe haha). That just seems very unrelated?

Can see the attractiveness of getting to go to social events (note: not personally attracted to that, but can understand that some people may be). But is there a gender difference in that? Do guys not want to go to events where there's free food and booze?

Generally speaking, women have better interpersonal skills than men. Recruiters/HR are talking to people all day, every day.
