Age/Seniority Limits?
I'm an analyst at a MM IB in my late 20's. I'll probably be promoted to associate at year end and will stick around for another 2-3 years. I want to jump to LMM PE, but unsure if there's an implicit age or seniority limit that will affect my ability to make the switch. Any input here would be helpful.
I am 31 and a 3rd year associate(the same age you will be when you become 3rd year associate). I tell myself the same thing very often..too old etc. Your self doubt is someone else's gain. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are hired to do banking and that's all that should matter.
Most post mba Ib hires are of that age… 31 and Snr Assoc (almost VP) is not old. Older than average sure. You can still make MD by mid 30s and Partner by early 40s …
No age limits at all, especially LMM PE - that door is almost always open. Most people on here are looking at MF/UMM PE which does get harder after you hit associate 2/3, but you shouldn't have any problems. I know plenty of 1st year MBA associates in their early 30s, you are not behind at all.
Honestly, nobody cares about age and you are not going around with a tag saying how old you are. I have seen people starting as an IB analyst at 32 and people starting at 21. High finance is very competitive, never doubt yourself because of your age and just focus on doing a great job
