How large is your team?
We’ve had AI consultants in our PortCo, but it’s such a young field that I’m increasingly skeptical of large transformational projects. I’ve also brought in the CEO of a startup, who is in the weeds, at a fixed day rate. In three days, he gave us more to implement than the entire consultancy team managed in months, at a fraction of the cost.
I’d consider dipping your toes in first. Starting a big transformational project now risks locking you into methods that are already becoming redundant. First there was prompting, then skilling and harnessing, and now looping. In three months, there will be something new.
Start by looking at processes at the junior level. The more technically proficient that layer of the organization is, the faster they’ll adapt as the tooling changes. I doubt many people 50+ in finance will become proficient at this unless they have a genuine interest in new technology. Banking is, by default, full of conservative, risk averse people. Your biggest hurdle is not tech, but people using it.
We are small, about 10 front-office ppl. I've heard good about Keel (https://keelconsultancy.com/), do you know them by any chance ? And yeah, it is clearly changing so fast, hard to predict and to launch any big projects...
Never heard of them. I’d be mindful that most of the productivity gains in those case studies are fairly easily attainable with the right tools. It’s relatively straightforward to scrape databases like Mergermarket for deals, then put a Claude layer on top to build a buyers list in an hour instead of 7.
Same with the LBO case studies. You could argue that feeding your previous LBO models and formatting into Shortcut, or any of the other 100 Excel tools out there, would increase productivity 5x almost instantly.
Nothing against the firm, but if you are not using Claude Enterprise internally yet, you do not know what you are missing. Start there.
