AN2 Disclosing Departure While Interviewing [Pushed Out]

Hi all,

Recently just finished two years of an Analyst program on the buyside. ~50% of our class was pushed out, with most of them recruiting early to secure something prior to the end date. Unfortunately, I didn't read the writing on the wall and am now trying to land something quickly and of interest.

This is a key lesson and I understand now that things can change very quickly - I plan to be more proactive in recruiting going forward. Not sure if helpful, but, performance wise, I was top bucket in first year and middle bucket second year. The difference was a change in industry and team members, both of which I was less keen about.

I haven't had anyone ask because I applied to many of these opportunities while I was still in the role; therefore, the resume said "to present". I was thinking of framing this situation as a lateral move, focusing on the cultural differences of going downstream and omitting the departure unless asked point blank.

Other folks in my class have taken various strategies - some are saying they are still at the firm and others are including the departure in their story.

TLDR: How should I go about disclosing this departure?
