Apple iCloud

So, 3 out of the 4 major US music labels have reportedly signed up with Apple, with the fourth pending – giving Apple a huge advantage over music services already offered by the competition (Amazon and Google) – whom neither have licenses from the music industry. With this feature, Apple will simply be able to index your collection and mirror it without huge uploads. Sure – this will be huge as users will be able to stream songs whenever they want to any / all devices (phones, pads, pcs, etc.). Sure – great idea, but let’s examine this further. Apple has without a doubt paid a huge premium for these music cloud services, suggesting it will cost more than a pretty penny to access this service. Basically, Apple is asking users to pay a monthly subscription to listen to their own music collection streamed from the internet (songs users have already paid for, btw). This can already be accessed for free with Google Musc beta (albeit it takes much longer and the quality is subpar). So, WSO – what is the future of iCloud and do you see this model working (people paying a premium to access their already paid for music in the cloud). The announcements of iCloud have successfully rebounded AAPL thus far – is this the next wave to push the stock to GOOG levels?? Thoughts / comments…..

if they are smart (which they obviously are), they should bundle iCloud with MobileMe - which would probably push MobileMe subscriptions and add value to the cloud offering.

I would gladly begin paying for MobileMe at an increased price if the iCloud service was bundled with it.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
