Asking about hours/HH in PE networking call?

Is it appropriate to ask about lifestyle/hours and which headhunter a firm uses when on a networking call with an associate/VP?

Further, outside of the generic questions (why did you choose your fund etc.) what are some good questions to ask so that you can demonstrate good knowledge of the firm to HHs?

I think you can be forward about the headhunter thing -- toward the end of your call just say something like "It definitely sounds like (firm) aligns with my interest and I'd love to be in the mix when you all do actively recruit. Do you mind sharing a little bit about your process or who you work with?"

I'd be a little more cautious on explicitly asking about hours unless you already know the person. You can probably ballpark by asking about volume of deals (reviewed and made), how deals are staffed, and expectations for associates
