Backing out of PE interviews / processes

Anyone have any advice on how to best do this? Does it always piss the firm / the headhunter off? Interviewing with a firm and don’t think I fit well with the people, but haven’t been dinged after a few rounds.

Whatever you do. Make a decision. Don’t regret it and just do it. If you can don’t waste people’s time, it’s worse if you get the offer and then don’t take it and just keep searching - if you think you will eventually wash out of the process because they see you don’t fit either just keep going and doing well, so hopefully they give a strong report back to the recruiter.
