tbh the best performing PE fund of all time is most likely not going to be any of the UMM/MFs
It's most likely some random lmm shop in the middle of nowhere
I would assume that generally the bigger a fund is, the lower the returns are on average.
Definitely true. Very evident comparing 2000’s vintages Vs. 2010’s vintages.
Well yeah. Its more impressive to get high returns at a larger fund over multiple decades and vehicles.
Comparing a MF to LMM in PE is like comparing Warren Buffett to a 14 yr old with robinhood in public equities.
Maybe a better phrased question would be which funds have generated the highest and most consistent $ in carry.
This. Know a 'no name' fund in the HC space (their most recent fund being in the 300-500M range) that absolutely kills it on returns. Know some of the investors personally at my previous job and they seemed very happy with the returns.
Cortec - yeti investment
Two of Riverside’s vintages from the early 2010s did like 12x and 7x gross
Every Veritas flagship fund is top decile in its vintage. I don’t think there’s another sponsor anywhere that can say that.
I believe every Alpine fund is 3.0x+net, which probably puts it in that category
Touche, I think you're right about Alpine.
