Do you really want to work at a place called “butterfly equity”?
Worked with them on a process. If you want to do consumer, obviously better here than at a JAMMBO, but still have some reservations. They invest primarily in food (agriculture, food and beverage, distribution, etc) but their Co-CEO Dustin Beck has no consumer experience. GS TMT -> Vista -> Riot Games. They’re supposedly raising their 3rd fund now with a lower target than fund II, so not a fantastic sign.
They do own Qdoba though which is pretty cool. Time will tell how they pan out.
Where did you hear about fundraise size?
I was catching up with one of the more senior folks at Butterfly last year and my impression was that their fund size would be larger than fund II (although not materially) so I'm surprised if its lower than fund II.
Speaking of Qdoba they also bought out Duckhorn at end of 2024 and with the wine market being as poor as it is I'd be curious to see how they perform on that asset as well
HH quoted the same to me. Said in market for larger fund but take with grain of salt
Good firm going through a transition. I know Aaron personally. Good guy to work with / under his mentorship. If you can land it and be successful there, you may have a bright future ahead of you in PE / finance. Like anything in PE, there are ups and downs. A smart investor knows that a good time to invest can be when expectations are low and there is “blood in the streets” so to speak. Good luck
