Buyout to Growth / Venture Investing

Hi WSO: I'm currently an associate at an UMM LBO fund considering next steps. I'm not interested in going to business school for the list of usual reasons cited on this forum. How common is it to switch from PE to GE/VC? Having been exposed to the technical / analytical demands of PE, would you say its easier to make the switch to earlier stage investing? Would love to hear stories / experiences from people who have made a similar switch before. TIA!
