Career Advice

I 29M work in Fixed Income Research and currently have two job offers. One is in New York City with JP Morgan where I’ll be mainly working as a bridge between JP Morgan’s Portfolio managers and our institutional clients who JPM manage money for (the issue with this role is that I wouldn’t be doing research and portfolio management which I like and am good at).

Second job offer is from a private equity firm in Boston and is a great role but the only issue is job security and since I don’t come from an Investment Banking background I am worried about what if I am not as good at doing the job and might lose my job within the first 3 months - this wouldn’t be an issue but I am on H1-B visa and would need to find a job within 3 months or leave the country.

JPM NY salary $175k plus bonus
Private Equity Firm Boston salary $235k with Bonus

Currently working in Iowa City in Iowa and making $92k a year but feel like there’s no career progression here.

I am tilted to the position in Boston but job security and then selling our house and moving to Boston makes me a little hesitant. Would love you guys’ thoughts and advice.
