I am 35 and a VP in Tech role at bulge bracket IB. Pursuing my MBA at a Top IVY - class of 2022. What are my chances of landing a PE associate role ? I am fully expecting it to be a challenging switch as I don't have any prior experience in PE. My primary interest in PE is developing skills in improving companies as I expect to get first-hand experience in turning them around.
Some of my concerns : Am I too old for a career switch into PE ? Is it even possible to switch from a Technology ( coding and Project management experience) background into PE ?
i found myself not progressing in my career. so got on to EMBA hoping it would open up some doors

Unlikely that you’ll be able to get hired directly to a PE role, in fact I would put it next to impossible, just given how their hiring works and that you’re lacking pre mba experience.
The banks and consulting firms will hire you, however, and I think consulting would be a good option for you. If you go and work at a top firm for a few years, I don’t think it would be too challenging to make a move into a PE role on the operating side, drawing on your pre mba experience as well. The working with and turnaround of businesses is anyways much more handled by people in these roles vs the investment professionals.

Sorry buddy but these firms don't recruit EMBAs.. EMBAs are designed for people already in management positions looking to bolster their professional brand. A top full-time MBA program is what you're looking for to make any of the suggestions here work.

If i major in PE in my MBA and work extensively on my modelling skills, will it still be difficult to get into a PE firm ?
I am open to relocate away from NYC and open to take a pay cut ( make around 200K now, can take about 20% cut hoping that i will make it up soon as i gain experience)
also, i am open for any smaller funds as well if thats easier to get in than mega funds. Just sharing my thoughts on this forum to get assessment on the fesibility
EMBA is completely different than MBA, not the best one to comment on this but both are two completely different animals
agreed, its a lot easier to get into EMBA than MBA. However, once you are in, you have the same placement opportunities ( atleast the univ i am in provides the same exposure). Also, understand that alot of EMBAs do not consider the junior level openings that MBAs look for. Having said that, i am open to take a step back in my career in the short term, to move forward in the longer run.
