Commodity Credit Analyst -> Commercial Banking-> Lev Fin/Private Credit Analyst?

Simple question, I have been working as a cash market commodity trader for the last 3 years and I am looking for something new with an end game of ending up in Lev-Fin/Private Credit Analyst. Just applied to a few roles within my firm as a credit analyst that I have a decent chance of getting. My thought would be that if I scored the role as a credit analyst I could then lateral to commercial banking and from there step into Lev-Fin/Private Credit Analyst. Is this a feasible path or am I missing something?

This is my first day exploring the credit/ lev-fin side of the business so don't kill me if I missed something

Thanks in advance
