Corp Dev to PE / Growth

Hey everyone - recently needed to make the move to corp dev. Happy with the move as the team seems acquisitive, high growth sector and new team in a large company, and comp is good for my level and position. However - I do have hesitations in the sense that my comp might be capped in the longer term and won't progress much as I would like.

Are there any stories of the door to PE / HF being still open after a stint in corp dev? I'm still quite junior and was previously in MF and BB IB. Was thinking if I am still prioritising comp to move in 2 years time to try and move back to buy side but wanted to assess the feasibility of this (and to take the two years of corp dev as an opportunity to get some industry expertise and slow down a little and recover an intense few years).
