CorpDev to PE?
I have ~4-5 yrs of IB experience in a good shop and considering taking a CorpDev offer.
How feasible it it to go to PE / Growth / VC after CorpDev?
My IB sector experience aligns well with what I want to do on the buyside, however the CorpDev role is in another industry. They have an active deal flow, however realistically they’re not going to close more than 1-2 deals per year.
How feasible would it be to go to the buyside in my previous (IB years) industry after that, and what kind of buyside role could I apply for after 1-2 years in Corp Dev (associate ? Senior associate?)
Separately, how feasible will it be to come back to IB if I wanted to?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, transitioning from CorpDev to PE/Growth/VC is challenging but not impossible. Here are the key takeaways:

Additional Considerations:
In summary, while transitioning from CorpDev to PE/Growth/VC is challenging, it is possible with the right strategy, networking, and focus on aligning your experience with the target roles. Returning to IB is also a viable option, especially if done within a short timeframe.
