Course / advice for pe senior associate?
To all pe senior associates, vps and current mbas - is there a course you have found helpful? I have 2 years of experience at a megafund but still feel I lack some knowledge around tax, legal and complex modelling.
Realize they may not be a good course (as these are geared towards entry level) but any other advice on how to become better at execution would also be appreciated
Have you done a platform, portfolio work, add-ons, etc.? Sounds like you are missing the experience from doing LOI diligence… so 2 years at MF with no deal experience? No courses will be a substitute to that..
I have done one add-on and a ton of portco work for sizable names (1bn ev plus)
Cool, so the add-on is great experience; sucks to be in portfolio hell (and not work on new platforms or deals); I guess you could look at macabacus models if you really want to dig in on modeling, but those are a headache imo and harder to know what to focus on; but that would be the resource I’d go for
What are the major differences from an ASO perspective between add-on and platform experiences? In situations where it’s a transformative add-on and the PE firm is driving the diligence process and financing the deal, would you say the learnings are pretty similar?
