Hello PE wizards, As much as I searched on the web, I am really struggling to come up with a clear answer to the question "why us?" while preparing for upcoming PE interviews. Anyone could detail features of these PE firms and what differentiates them (possibly focus on EMEA/ London)? Thank you all!

My answer to "Why us?" in every interview I had was always the same: Because of: 1) The type of transactions/asset mgmt the firm works on (you should know the portfolio of the PE shop, if possible) 2) The perceived performance of the firm (presuming it's good) 3) The quality of the people who work for the firm (make sure you took the time to go for coffee with a couple people from the firm prior to the interview) This bulletized answer works well because it 1) sounds legit, 2) is succinct and 3) strokes the interviewer's ego just enough to make him/her feel good about himself/herself and ass
