Do PE firms give laptops ?

Hi guys,

I will be joining a top 20 PE firm as an associate soon and I wonder if they will give me a laptop when I arrive. I come from MBB so I do not have a personal laptop as I can now do all my stuff from my employer's laptop (emails, facebook, admin stuff etc...).

Thanks a lot!

Yes. But it's not a bad idea to have your own. Most PE firms, from what I've personally experienced and heard from friends (cavaet: I've never worked for a MF so maybe they're more sophisticated and do), don't block websites or really monitor what's on your computer but you don't want them to discover your bestiality porn when your laptop crashes and IT checks it out. Unless you're a gamer or do graphics stuff on the side you don't need a high end personal laptop, just something to surf the web and redo your resume in a couple of years.
