Hi, I am a first year associate (analyst promote) at a BB. I worked three years in ECM (focusing on convertibles/ equity derivatives) before starting my current role in M&A. I have decided that I do not wish to pursue i-banking as a long term career and would like to explore buyside opportunities. Does anyone have any insight into PE / HF recruiting landscape for someone in my situation? I have heard that PE recruiting is fairly structured (2 + 2) so they probably wouldn't be interested in an IB associate. What about HF? What should I be doing to best position myself for any opportunities?
