Exit Ops for a PE Analyst straight out of undergrad

As the title suggests - what kind of exit ops would a person whose first role out of undergrad is as PE analyst at a LMM firm ($2B AUM) have?

And how long would should they stay at that firm before making a transition?

Other LMM firms, maybe MM in the same industry... things like corp dev in the same industry etc. Banking will be a tough sell unless prior BB/EB experience - and more or less impossible right now given the market.

I'd say stay for at least a year unless there is some reason you need to leave immediately. Leaving your first job in under a year will raise red flags.

The problem with these boutique firms is it's hard to diligence your experience - jobs have no idea what type of training you've gotten and how real your reps are. Some people are just really good at interviews and then show up to the job with little true experience, firms often choose BB/EB analysts because they have at least been through a verified, consistent training program.

Is analyst at a similar-sized HF possible from a seat like this?

Anything is possible in this game, just remember that. If you're shooting for an elite HF or MF PE, maybe you get shut down right away. But if you really want it, there's always a way. MM --> UMM --> HF / MM --> MM --> MF PE / MM --> HF / MM --> MF PE

I've seen all these.
