Spoke with one of their partners. This is what I can gather:

Not the typical Buyout PE firm, more focused on junior capital.

About 30 investment professionals with almost all coming from IB. He did mention that they did hire an analyst maybe once every couple of years, but normally from a top school and/or well connected to the firm. I think he said some of the candidates for the analyst position were coming from Wharton, BC, ND, UNC, etc. Typical associate level employees exiting from 2-3 years of IB.

It sounds like they do half of their deals sponsored and the other half unsponsored. Target mid/high teen IRRs and looking for “Doubles and Triples” with 2-7 year horizon. Finally, he mentioned they are not operators.

Hard to gauge culture. He seemed a little intense but he’s also a Partner, so that might have something to do with it. On the other hand, he was willing to speak with me, a total stranger at the time.
